iPhone email Setup

Before you start, you need to set up an email account within the control panel. Please see our instructions for this here.

On your iPhone, please do the following (and replace domain-name-here.co.uk with your own domain)...

  1. In settings, select "Mail" followed by "Accounts". Select "Add account" followed by "Other".

  2. Select "Add mail account" and fill in your details e.g...
Name: Bob Cratchit     --- your own name or company name goes here
Email: bob@domain-name-here.co.uk     --- You could choose an address such as info@domain-name-here.co.uk here if you've set up a forwarder
    Password: ********
    Description: domain-name-here.co.uk
    Click [Next]

  3. Make sure that IMAP is highlighted and fill in the mail server settings...
    Incoming Mail Server...
    host name: mail.<YOUR-SITE-NAME>
    user name: bob@domain-name-here.co.uk
    password: ********
    Outgoing Mail Server...
    host name: mail.<YOUR-SITE-NAME>
    user name: bob@domain-name-here.co.uk
password: ******** Click [Next] followed by [Save]

  4. You should now be able to collect (and view) emails via the mail function on the phone.

Note: Please bear in mind that it can take 24-48 hours for new domain name settings to filter through the Internet and nobody will be able to send emails to you until this has happened.

Modifications to existing settings

On your iPhone, go to...
settings
select "Mail" followed by "Accounts" (if older than iOS 14, "Passwords" & "Accounts").
click the mail account you've set up
click the account you wish to change
click on 'Account'

Under 'Incoming Mail Server', make sure that the Host Name is set to mail.<YOUR-SITE-NAME>

scroll down to the "outgoing mail server" section.
click SMTP
click your primary SMTP server

Your settings for the outgoing mail server should be...
host name: mail.<YOUR-SITE-NAME>
user name: < please use the same username as you're using for receiving mail. E.g. bob@domain-name-here.co.uk >
password: ********
use SSL [ON]
authentication: password
server port 587

We recommend that you also check the settings for dealing with the Trash, Sent and Drafts folders. Go back to the 'Passwords & Accounts' menu, select the account you've just added and select it again near the top of the screen. Scroll to the bottom and click 'Advanced'. Then choose 'Drafts Mailbox' and select the 'Drafts' folder on the server. Click 'Advanced', choose 'Sent Mailbox' and select the 'Sent' folder on the server. Click 'Advanced' again, choose 'Deleted Mailbox' and select the 'Trash' folder on the server.
